Description

One of my characters, Noireen.

This is an idea I've been playing around with in my head recently: for my Reaper characters to have off-duty time and some sort of "life" outside, time to just do whatever. So I tried to design Noireen in regular clothes (or maybe undercover clothes :shifty:).

I wanted to design it based on her Reaper design so that it's not a totally different look for the character.
(Reaper clothes: eric-3.deviantart.com/art/2016… )

So I did things like retain the black hood and top and the beige belt. The bone covering thing across the left side of her shoulder and torso, I turned into a backpack strap across her left side.

I also wanted to try and reflect her personality and background in the design. Living in an abusive home (back when she was alive, of course), she sometimes avoided going back home at the end of the day(s) and would need to find other places to spend the night. Sometimes she'd be out on the streets/sleeping outdoors. I added gloves like she'd need to keep warm and I made her jeans ripped. Like ripped from wear, not as a style.

Having trust issues with most people (because of the abuse) and not wanting to deal with people much as a result, I gave her sunglasses or tinted glasses so she hides her eyes a bit as to not easily lock eyes with others.

My primary reason for not making them completely dark is just that I still wanted to draw her eyes. But from a story logic thing, I feel like she'd just draw more attention if she were wearing completely darkened glasses indoors or when it's not sunny. So just having them tinted gives her more leeway in its reasonability in the eyes of others.

The pink dress thing...is totally out of her character. But that's actually part of the idea. She wouldn't normally wear something like that. Her hair, build, and preferred clothes sometimes get her initially mistaken as a boy though and it can sometimes get annoying for her. So she reluctantly puts something more feminine on just to try and avoid the hassle. She doesn't really care what most people would think of her, but it's easier to just do this to avoid the interaction altogether.

I had fun designing this, thinking of the reasoning behind the clothing choices.

I drew this pose spontaneously. I'm pleased with how that came out...but I later noticed that she's either sitting on a very low chair or at a very high table. Both options are stupid. :| I just CANNOT get through a single picture without having some sort of error that I don't notice until it's too late to fix it.

This looks cool! Her style reminds me a bit of Bret "The Hitman" Hart!
